Planning Your Stay

Below we've compiled answers to the questions we hear most often. For anything not covered, please don't hesitate to contact us — our team is happy to help.

Booking & Reservations
The minimum stay is typically 2 nights for both properties. During peak periods (Christmas, Easter, long weekends) a 3-night minimum may apply. Please contact us for exact requirements around your desired dates.
Cancellations made more than 30 days prior to arrival receive a full refund less a small administration fee. Cancellations within 30 days are subject to a 50% charge. Cancellations within 14 days of arrival are non-refundable. We strongly recommend travel insurance. Full policy details are provided at time of booking.
Yes — both properties can be booked simultaneously for large family gatherings or group celebrations. Please contact us to discuss combined rates and availability.
Arrival & Departure
Check-in starts at 3:00 pm on your arrival day. Check-out must be completed by 10:00 am on the morning of your departure.
We use a modern digital key system. Prior to arrival, you will receive an NFC link via email or SMS. You can save this directly to your smartphone's digital wallet.

Note: The key is only active during your scheduled stay, starting at check-in and expiring automatically at check-out.
The entrance is at 1671 Coles Bay Road. Please note that this is a separate location from the main Freycinet Resort (which is 1.3km away at 1819 Coles Bay Road). Look for the roadside signage marking the turn-off for the Residences.
Coles Bay is approximately 2 hours from Hobart and 2.5 hours from Launceston airport by car. We recommend renting a car — having your own vehicle opens up the full breadth of East Coast experiences. Private transfers can also be arranged through our concierge team.
During Your Stay
To ensure your privacy, we do not provide daily housekeeping. Your house will be professionally prepared with fresh linens and essentials prior to your arrival. If you are on an extended stay and need assistance, please contact our management team.
No, breakfast is not included. However, all houses are fully self-contained and equipped with kitchen facilities so you can prepare your own meals at your convenience.
While the Residences are designed for independent living, the Freycinet Resort team is available to assist you.

Yes — both Freycinet Horizon and Pelican Bay Retreat are fully self-contained with complete kitchens, laundry facilities, and everything you need for a comfortable independent stay. You can cook all your meals or eat out at Freycinet Resort's restaurant — the choice is entirely yours.
Both properties include: premium bed linen and towels, a fully equipped kitchen with quality appliances, Smart TV and streaming services, high-speed WiFi, air conditioning and heating, laundry (washer/dryer), outdoor entertaining area, and a welcome pack of Tasmanian provisions. Full inclusions are listed in your booking confirmation.
Yes, both houses have high-speed WiFi included at no charge. Connection details are provided in your welcome information on arrival.
Payments & Security
Yes, a $250 security pre-authorisation is required upon check-in. This is a temporary hold on your credit card, not a direct charge.
The hold will be released within seven days of your check-out, provided no incidental damages have occurred and the property is left in good condition.
Pets, Children & Other Questions
We understand pets are part of the family — please contact us to discuss. Pelican Bay Retreat's enclosed setting may be suitable for certain pets. A bond and cleaning surcharge applies. Please note that Freycinet National Park does not permit pets on trails or in the park.
Both properties are welcoming of children aged 4 and above. Pelican Bay Retreat in particular is well-suited to families with its dual-wing layout, spacious rooms, and enclosed bush setting. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times when in outdoor areas. A travel cot and highchair can be arranged on request. Please note that direct beach access is not available from the properties.
Freycinet Residences is managed by the Freycinet Resort team but is a distinct property at a different address. Please ensure you navigate to the correct destination (1671 Coles Bay Road) to ensure a smooth arrival.
Yes — guests of both Freycinet Residences properties have access to Freycinet Resort facilities including the restaurant, bar, and swimming pool. Resort dining reservations can be made through our concierge team.
Yes — both properties have private off-street parking for two or more vehicles.
Mobile coverage in Coles Bay can be limited depending on your carrier. Telstra generally provides the strongest reception in the area. Both houses have high-speed WiFi, which supports messaging and calling apps. We recommend informing family or friends of your stay details before arrival.
